Welcome to the Dougherty Gallery
The Dougherty Gallery started as Daniel Dougherty’s vision to contribute to Long Island City’s artistic community. The 100-square-foot gallery space is now housed in Crescent Grill, a restaurant started by his brother, Chef Shaun Dougherty. We rotate our diverse exhibitions several times a year, presenting well-known artists as well as emerging ones, with backgrounds ranging from local to international. The featured art also crosses a spectrum of media and styles, reinforcing the variety of LIC’s singular neighborhood.
For as long as Dan Dougherty has lived in Long Island City, he has been collecting his neighbors’ art. In partnership with his brother Shaun, Dan intends for the gallery to be a catalyst of growth and recognition for local artists, specifically those in Long Island City whom he has honored for so long. The gallery stands out as a unique reflection of Dan’s time in New York, spanning the late eighties to the present day, and also as a symbol of his patronage to and appreciation of the local arts scene.
